Clarence Jey – President
Clarence Jey is an American record producer, multi-instrumentalist, composer and songwriter of Sri Lankan heritage who has had music on US Top 100 Billboard charts, a Grammy-winning record and various award- winning US television shows including an Emmy-nominated show.
Jey grew up in Australia performing with local bands and composing and producing music at his studio in Melbourne where he blended his love of music and television to write and produce the theme song and additional music for the 2007 US Emmy-nominated Discovery Kids animation television show, “Growing Up Creepie”. This led to his relocation to Los Angeles, California. He has since composed music for television shows including “Common Law”, “America’s Got Talent”, “Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew” and “The Newsroom”. Jey’s music has been used on commercials including the US retailer, “Kohls” as well as a “Vodafone” national campaign in New Zealand.
In 2011, he was instrumental in one of the largest internet viral sensations in history, “Friday”, by Rebecca Black, which resulted in over 200 Million YouTube hits. He co-wrote and produced/engineered the controversial song, which hit the US Billboard Top 100 and iTunes Top 20 in March 2011, referred to as “Genius” by music executive, Simon Cowell. “Friday” was also covered on various TV shows, including the cast of Fox network’s smash hit show “Glee”, that resulted in the Glee version of “Friday” landing on US Billboard Top 100 as well as iTunes Top 10. Additionally, it was covered by artists such as Katy Perry and Justin Bieber. In 2013, Jey gained additional historical notoriety with US Late Night host Jimmy Fallon’s 2nd album “Blow Your Pants Off”, featuring “Friday”, as performed by Fallon and Stephen Colbert – a record with a high profile rock star line up including Sir Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, David Bowie and Bruce Springsteen – won 2013 Grammy.
Jey has also worked in film. In 2014, he produced and composed original songs and was music supervisor for the martial arts actor Jean-Claude Van Damme film, “Full Love”, which was premiered at the Shanghai International Film Festival. Jey worked with the US reality show, “Famous in 12″, produced by Harvey Levin of TMZ on The CW network, where Jey was invited to assist the up-and-coming artist to find her dream.
Alexa Brinkschulte – Artist Marketing
Alexa manages a wide range of tasks ranging from coordinating of the artistic projects to interaction with promotion and distribution to ensure the communications and delivery reflect the vision of the company. Originally from Bremen, Germany, Alexa is an accomplished drummer with qualifications from Los Angeles Music Academy in Pasadena, CA as well as Berkley College of Music in Boston, MA.
Alexa has performed extensively with many international acts including appearances on various television networks. With her keen interest in online viral marketing, advertising and brand awareness, Alexa was co-instrumental in the viral success campaigns of teen artists such as Rebecca Black and Alana Lee. In addition to working for Music Intersection, she is currently in the process of getting a Masters Degree in Internet Marketing.
Phil Woodward – Composer/Guitarist/Instructor
As a prolific Guitarist and Musician, Phil has had the opportunity to work with the likes of Timothy B. Schmit (The Eagles), Paul Stanley (KISS), Susan Sarandon (actress), Rob Morrow (actor), Sinbad (Comedian), Vanna White, Gilby Clarke (Guns N’ Roses) and many more. As a composer and Phil had success with Video Game Awards for Spike TV (intro w/Samuel L. Jackson) as well as recordings for rock band “Sahara” (Polydor/Dream Circle).
Phil is a graduate of Musicians Institute and has also completed Music Theory and Piano studies at Rio Hondo College. He has also been blessed to have had private instruction studying with guitarist/musician Carlos de la Paz 1979 – 1983. As an Instructor, Phil has over two decades of experience. He has fined-tuned his skills and art of teaching to a level that will help every guitar oriented artist or student to achieve their full potential. His immense knowledge and passion for the guitar style of the great Jimi Hendrix led him to give a three-day Master Class Seminar focussing on these elements.
Albert Mata – Recording Engineer/Mixer
Albert Mata is an established Recording Engineer and Mixer, working in both music and television. Some of his credits include Mandy Moore, Sara Bareilles, Social Distortion and Euge Groove. He has also worked on tv shows such as Glee, American Horror Story, and The Glee Project.
Albert studied music at San Diego State University majoring in Classical Guitar. While attending he gained an interest in production and pursued it by attending the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences In Arizona. After graduating, he moved to LA and worked at Ocean Studios in Burbank as the Chief Engineer and Assistant Engineer. During that time he was able to learn from and work with amazing producers and engineers such as Bob Rock, Eddie Kramer, and Neal Avron and such artists as 311, Fall Out Boy, and The Rocket Summer.
Along with music production, Albert is currently working on original music, scores and sound design for trailers, commercials, television, and film.
Josef Gordon – Singer/Songwriter
As Singer/Songwriter based in Los Angeles, Josef Gordon’s songs have been licensed to popular television programs such as “Vampire Diaries,” “90210,” “Dancing with the Starts,” and “Access Hollywood,” as well as on ad campaigns such as “The Office” on DVD. Josef Gordon is a genuine singer and songwriter. His songwriting effectively employs catchy, soulful and potent lyrics coupled with infectious melodies. Two of Josef’s songs have received airplay throughout Europe: “Find My Way” and a dance remix of “Somebody’s Her.”
Fluent in English and Spanish and proficient in French, his passion for culture and language inspires his work. Josef has received international radio play with a song he wrote with contemporary Christian artist Jimmy Needham called “Lost at Sea,” which reached No. 2 on the American Christian charts where it remained for an astonishing 11 weeks.
Josef has extensive experience as a session vocalist and vocal producer working alongside Clarence Jey at Music Intersection. He is currently working on his debut album with legendary songwriter, Jeff Barry (Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Tina Turner) and Grammy/Oscar nominated writer/producer, Matthew Wilder (Kelly Clarkson, No Doubt, Christina Aguilera). Josef can be seen and heard performing regularly at some of Hollywood’s hottest venues: The House of Blues, The Roxy and Viper Room; just to name a few. Cool rock. Suave pop. Steve, a Songwriter, Producer, and Multi-Instrumentalist, grew up in Australia to a musical family. A graduate from Musician Institute in Los Angeles, Steve released his debut solo album “Human Uniform” in 2009 to critical acclaim most notably in the U.S, Netherlands and Japan. His second album is set for release early 2012.
Steve has written for Emmy Award winning television and co-wrote ‘Beautiful Life’ with Richie Kotzen (Poison, Mr.Big) released on Richie’s acclaimed “Wilson Hawk” album. Steve brings to Music Intersection, his many years of experience and education in the fields of strategic marketing and music content promotion, along with his personal networks in Asia/Australia.
